Chick Report, Summer 2011

The Hens have slowed down a bit due to the heat, but not before Miss Puff Ball gave us the most enormous egg. I had heard that sometimes a hen lays an egg inside another egg so it was with trepidation that I cracked it. Sure enough it was a double yoke'r.

I grow clover in an earth box and bring inside the hen area and they just go wild. Eventually they climb us inside  the box and scratch away.

Here it is. Amazing that all winter the cold did not interfere with egg laying, but the heat sure has slowed them down. Fall will come with more eggs, for sure.
